YouTube for Xbox One now supports 4K resolution

Those who use the official YouTube app on Xbox One can finally look forward to viewing videos in ultra high definition as it was recently updated to support 4K resolution. Fans who owned the 4K capable Xbox One S have had to go without 4K YouTube support since its launch, or turned to alternatives such as myTube. Now Google is updating its official app for Xbox One S and Xbox One X (via The Verge).

The new YouTube app will include 4K resolution support and 60 FPS, but unfortunately it will not feature support for HDR at this time, unlike other apps such as Netflix. Still, watching 4K 60 FPS content, especially of video games, is a vast improvement if you have a good display.

The update is currently rolling out now for everyone, so if you don’t see it available on your console yet you may just need to wait a little longer. If you are using the updated app, tell us what you think about it in the comments below.
