The Story format that Snapchat created is becoming wider spread as time goes on. Instagram and WhatsApp have already adopted it, and now YouTube is rolling out its Stories feature to more users starting from today. The Google-owned video company will now allow creators who have at least 10, 000 subscribers access to the tool.
A ‘story’ on YouTube, unlike on other platforms, can last for up to 7 days and are visible to non-subscribers as well. Like on other platforms viewers can reply directly to them with text and images.
The feature marks a change to the YouTube platform that brings creators closer to users, albeit while making YouTube feel a little bit more samey and derivative at the same time.
