Until now, when you’re on the go and looking at transportation options in Google Maps, you were able to request an Uber ride directly from the Google Maps app. In addition to requesting a ride, you were able to see your driver en route, contact your driver, and follow your trip status — all without having to switch over to the Uber app. This cool integration is now gone! You can no longer book Uber rides directly in Google Maps. Both Google and Uber have not provided any reason for this change.
Since Lyft’s integration still works inside Google Maps, I guess it was Uber that decided to remove this cool integration. Now, we should look up the route in the Google Maps app and then request the ride from the Uber app.
