The HTC Touch Diamond has two great new sensors – the accelerometer and the capacitive scroll wheel. Unfortunately, and Apple like, HTC has limited the functionality of these sensors only to specific apps – the accelerometer only works in the photo app and Opera Mobile, and the scroll wheel only in mail, opera mobile and the photo app.

Fortunately XDA-Developers have come to the rescue. SK-Software has released there an app called GSEN that enables screen rotation in any application, and enables exclusion of certain apps, such as the ones that are already rotation enabled. Read the thread here.

Next user tkhs has revealed how to enable to use of the scrollwheel in any application by adding the application of the the right area of the registry. E.g. to enable toe scroll wheel in Resco Explorer add this registry entry:

HKLM/Software/HTC/SmartTouch/RescoExplorer
(String Value) ClassName = RESCO_EXPLORER_CLASS
(DWORD Value) Mode = 4
(DWORD Value) WheelCount = 2
