Xbox’s July update begins rolling out for all users starting today. Insiders have been testing some of these features out for a few weeks so now everyone gets to try them out for themselves. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the new Avatars are arriving just yet, but July’s update does include features like FastStart, the ability to group your games and apps, and more.
Announced at E3, FastStart “identifies which files are needed to begin playing and prioritizes the download of those files first, enabling you to quickly jump into full-fidelity gameplay while the remainder of your title downloads in the background.” Only a select list of titles will be FastStart-enabled to begin with, but more games will be added as time goes on.
Fans now have a better way to organize all of their content. The July update adds the ability to group your games and apps. You can create multiple collections of content, assign custom names to them, and even pin them to Home. Since the Groups feature is tied to your Xbox Live account, they will automatically sync across multiple Xbox consoles that you use.
Users will now also be able to search for anything via the dashboard by pressing Y, which will open up a search menu.
The rest of the update focuses on Mixer improvements. There are now more options for the share controller feature, streamers can now utilize full screen broadcasting, and the overall quality of streaming has been improved.
