The Verge reports from an unnamed source inside the Xbox team that Microsoft is working on a smart watch and are already prototyping a device.
Apparently the Xbox team was already working on a wrist-worn heart-rate monitor, and the team has now been repurposed for the smart-watch effort.
The smart-watch will apparently have removable straps, a “surface-like” magnetic power and data connector and a 1.5 inch screen. Presumably the team will also bring along some of their health-focus from their original work, and include features like a heart-rate monitor once again.
In many ways it is good to hear it is not the Windows Phone team working on the watch, which may bring new ideas to the table, and with devices already in prototype stage we may see them hit the market sooner rather than later.
