If you’re facing issues with Xbox Live, you’re not alone. Microsoft’s online gaming network has been under attack by a hacker group called New World Hackers. The group, which has in the recent times also carried campaigns against presidential candidate Donald Trump and Islamic State militant group (ISIS), claims that it can “knock Xbox off the face of the Earth.”
The NewsWeek reported about the issue earlier this week. But it appears that users are still facing issues, according to web monitoring service DownDetector. New World Hackers says that it is unhappy with the level of sophistication Microsoft has put on Xbox Live, and it urges the company to up its game.
New World Hackers’ Twitter profile suggests that the hacker group has been after Microsoft’s gaming service since January. “Well, [it] didn’t even take as long as I thought,” a member of the hacking group told the publication. “We attacked Xbox to protest. Major companies like this have massive servers but no real protection. We want Xbox to update the protection they have, which isn’t much.”
“[The Xbox attacks] also prove we do have as much power as we say we do, going out to the doubters. [We could] honestly knock Xbox off the face of the Earth,” he added.
To recall, Xbox Live, as well as, Sony PlayStation Network have faced numerous outages in the past two years. They have previously been breached by another hacker group called Lizard Squad.
