Xbox Live is facing issues yet again

Update 6: As of 10:15 PM EST on March 21, Xbox Live services appear to have been fully restored.

It’s another day and Xbox Live is having issues again. Microsoft recently released a series of press releases touting the service’s reliability but there have been rather frustrating issues every week for the past few months. According to numerous customers, they’re unable to access their games. The main error seems to be where the console says you have to sign into the profile that purchased the game. Unfortunately, the profile is already signed on so it’s an issue with Microsoft’s servers. According to the Xbox Status Page, the system is running smoothly but there are hundreds of complaints on social media and websites like Down Detector.

Many Twitter users are reaching out to Xbox Support and asking them to look into the matter. Xbox Support says they’ll ask the engineers at the Xbox Team to investigate what is going on. Hopefully the team will be able to fix this soon because losing the ability to play games and access other programs is quite severe.

Update 1: Microsoft updated the Xbox Live Status page and acknowledged that the service was limited. The post states, “We believe we have identified the issue causing some members to have problems finding previously-purchased content or purchasing new content. Thanks for your patience as the team works to resolve the issue.”

Update 2: As of 11.15 PM EDT on March 20, it appears that the issue has been resolved. Games are now loading and Xbox One owners no longer get an error.

Update 3: Xbox Live is down once again. The latest downtime is affecting Xbox Live’s core login-related services, as well as Windows Store purchases. This isn’t the first time Xbox Live went down this week—the service actually went down for a while last night too.

Update 4: As of 3:15 PM EDT on March 21, Xbox Live is coming back online slowly. Many users are reporting that they can log in and launch games.

Update 5: As of 9:30 PM EST on March 21, Xbox Live services are experiencing the same login issues again.
