Xbox 360 maintenance may disrupt backward compatibility tomorrow

Microsoft’s going to do some maintenance on the Xbox 360 servers tomorrow, bringing them down for around 2 hours in the morning. Maintenance is planned to begin at 4 AM EDT, lasting until 6 AM EDT. This will only affect Xbox 360 games and services, but it does also mean that Xbox One owners looking to get in a few early rounds of backward compatible titles like Halo: Reach or Call of Duty: Black Ops II might have to wait a few hours to get back into the action.

Additionally, anyone looking to download Xbox 360 games on an Xbox 360 will have to wait it out, although downloading backward compatible Xbox 360 games to your Xbox One should still work just fine. However, as with any such maintenance, expect disruptions. Larry Hryb on Twitter hinted that backward compatible games might exhibit problems. Just so we’re clear, no Xbox One services will be affected at all.
