WP7 8107 update brings Automatic carrier time and 3G/Edge switch also

Spanish Windows Phone 7 site MimovilWindows.com reports besides the fixes Microsoft admitted to in their change log the 8107 update for Windows Phone 7 also brought a few more useful features, ones which should have in fact been implemented ages ago.

The first one, and the one that excites me the most, is the ability to get the date and time directly from the carrier’s network.  With my HTC 7 Trophy the clock always seems to be 2 minutes out, so this is an extremely welcome change, and will prevent the embarrassment of sending a reply to a SMS message before you received the original message.

The second feature should also really have been there from the start, and is a simple toggle to switch between 3G (High speed data) and normal EDGE/GPRS. This feature is of course essential for drawing out the last few minutes of battery life from one’s phone, so it is an extremely welcome addition.
