WP Bench updated to version 2.4, now prankster proof

Robert Varga has dropped us a line to let us know we can now once again trust the information we see in his WP Bench app.

The software now includes both client and server side encryption and now only works on handsets running Windows Phone 7.5.

The change was prompted to prankster Leon Zandman, who decided it would be funny to create a pretend handset, the HTC 7 Mini, and submit data for the device to Robert’s database.

At the time we were hardly amused, and Robert was even less so.   He notes the reputation of the app was damaged, resulting in less downloads and less statistics submitted, something Leon may want to think about before his next prank. Robert notes if Leon wanted to point out a security hole he could simply have emailed him instead.

If you want to download the new, improved and now completely secure WP Bench, which costs £0.99 with a free trial, it can be found in Marketplace here.
