Courtesy of their national card service Borica, Windows Phone users in Bulgaria are able to use only one app to check the balance on their bank accounts from a wide variety of banks in the country, and also make mobile payments using only their phone, and send money to other users of the service.
The service is available via the Mobb app, and users are able to add cards to the service from Central Cooperative Bank, CIBank, Investbank, Municipal Bank, Tokuda Bank, D Commerce Bank, International Asset Bank, and ZiraatBank Bulgaria.
Users however still need to activate their account either online or via an ATM, but are then able to check balances, see their last 5 transactions, send money to friends using only their phone number and make payments to participating vendors.
Unfortunately the Point of Sale payment system is still pretty complicated, much like the CurrentC, as can be seen in the video below.
Users however never have to give the retailer their card numbers, which provides some protection against hacks and fraud at a later date.
Hopefully the service can be streamlined in the future, but in the mean time, some Windows Phone users in Bulgaria will indeed be able to leave their bank cards at home.
