Windows Phone gets support from at least one Smart Thermostat company

Home Automation is slowly coming mainstream through the back door of smart thermostats such as the Nest, which allows users to control and monitor their air conditioning and heating, thereby creating a comfortable environment and also saving money.

imageWhile we have not seen an official app from the likes of Nest yet, it is good to see at least some support from one such company, Lennox, who produce the iComfort WIFI-controlled smart thermostat (right).

The icomfort Wi-Fi™ thermostat lets you set your home’s temperature and save energy from anywhere in the world, using a smartphone, tablet or laptop. The device offers Remote access, along with live weather forecast and automatic updates, and claims to allow up to 56% savings in your heating bills.

According to their twitter account a Windows Phone app is on the way, and should hit the market in February.

Hopefully other companies in the arena will pay attention – when I do decide to pick a smart thermostat I will likely choose one which works with my phone, rather than change my phone to one which works with their product, so wide support for all operating systems is really rather essential.
