Adding to the growing list of Windows Phone 8.1 OEMs, Gizbot reports that low-cost Indian OEM Celkon is also planning to launch a Windows Phone 8.1 handset.
GizBot spoke with Mr. Pradeep, Head of Digital Management at a Celkon event held in Bangalore, where he said the company was launching a Windows Phone device that will be priced under Rs. 10,000 around August 2014. The company aims to address the 35% of the market looking to grab an affordable handset.
No other details were released, but Celkon has just launched a quadcore android handset with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage for only 2,999 INR.
There has been explosion in new Windows Phone OEMs following Microsoft’s announcement that they would make the OS free, and taking other measures, including launching an OEM portal, to smooth the way for Android OEMs to also launch Windows Phones.
