Windows Phone 8 supports EAP-SIM for quick connection to free WIFI networks

EAP-SIM is a SIM-based authentication standard which is used to allow subscribers to connect quickly to WIFI networks without having to enter user names and passwords.

It is most commonly used in free WIFI networks or networks run by operators, and would also allow roaming from one WIFI network to another, much like phones roam from network to network.

Up till now Windows Phone did not support EAP-SIM, but MonWindowsPhone noticed that the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 now both claim support for this feature.

While Microsoft is unlikely to list this when they finally reveal all the features of Windows Phone 8 on the 29th, it helps to know that there are hidden ways in which our phones will work better when we upgrade to Windows Phone 8 handsets.
