It appears in going after the low-cost smartphone market Windows Phone 8.1 will be supporting the very cheapest of handsets.
According to the leaked SDK Windows Phone 8.1 will now support screen resolutions as low as 384×640, which I think opens up the still massive market of feature phones to the OS.
384×640 is the same screen ration as 480×800, suggesting apps will easily scale up and down.
The implications of the news is that while Nokia sells 8 million Lumias, they still sell 60 million feature phones each quarter, and converting some of those customers to Windows Phone users could be a big win.
