Windows Phone 7 to feature “organic variations” in key tap sound

Microsoft is spending a lot of time paying attention to the detail and polish of Windows Phone 7, and one of the surprising areas they are innovating in is the sound scheme.

In the above video we have Microsoft’s Matthew Bennett, Senior Sound and Sensory Designer, explaining how each tap on the soft keyboard will sound slightly different from the next one, using one of 8 different keyboard samples that are subtly softer and more comfortable sounding than the single one on the iPhone, and which in some strange way actually goes to improve the typing experience.

I guess this is just one reason why the Windows Phone 7 keyboard is “incredibly fast and accurate” 🙂
