Windows Phone 7 only second to Android in developer adoption plans

VisionMobile did some interesting research with 850 developers who completed a detail online survey, and the results are quite revealing.

According to them, while only 36% of developers were working on a Microsoft mobile platform, vs 67% on Android and 59% on iPhone, 32% of developers said they would make sure to adopt the OS in the near future, second only to Android.

Developers said this was due to a combination of the great developer tools available on the Windows Phone 7 platform, and the expected bump in volume when Nokia ships their Windows Phone 7 handsets.

The report also notes that IDC and Gartner has estimated around 3 million Windows Phone 7 handsets have been sold by the end of Q1 2011, supporting our number estimate of around 4 million Windows Phone 7 handsets in the wild at the moment.
