Push Notification WP7

1800PPC has made a list of notifications Windows Phone 7 will support, and since they are all push, they will be instant and great. The notification engine in the upcoming OS is very important in the whole UI feel, experience and look, and the ways the devices will portray these information is quite cool and comes in different ways.

The following is a great explanation of how the three different notification functions work:

1. Tile notifications – you can easily understand this one, have a look at the image ( pay close attention to the xBox tile )

2. Toast notifications
– These are action-requested notifications that do NOT disrupt the user workflow or require intervention to resolve. It is displayed as an opaque bar in the Accent Color on the top of the screen for 10 seconds to be tapped on before disappearing. If the notification is tapped, the application that sent thenotification will launch.

example : when the user receives a text message or instant message. These notifications appear at the top of the screen and are displayed for 10 seconds before disappearing.

3. Raw notifications – Action required in application notifications are fully controlled by an application and affect only that application. These appear within an application. They can also be sent from a web service but will only come up in the app.

eg : login request from a twitter client

Those three are already more than any other OS can speak of now, and I am sure that will be key in keeping the devices image as being connected.
