According to J. Gold Associates RIM’s Blackberry platform is likely to see decline over the next few years, with its marketshare amongst North American businesses dropping nearly 10% over the next 3 years, from 65.5% of the market to 59%.
Windows Mobile is set to take up a lot of the slack, with 30% growth over the next 3 years, penetrating 28.5% of North American markets deploying mobile solutions, up from 22% at present.
Windows Mobile has the advantage over Blackberry in that it can leverage a business’s existing Exchange Server infra-structure, rather than needing an additional Blackberry Enterprise Server, an advantage which may become more significant in these belt-tightening times.
