Krussel has been keeping track of their top devices buying cases for ages now. They record sales originating in 50 countries on 6 continents and they pride themselves on having a pretty good finger on the pulse of the market.
Their monthly list of best selling devices is therefore very interesting and may hold a few surprises. The Samsung Omnia has been topping the list since November 2008, after pushing the October 2008 best seller, the iPhone, to the number 4 spot. Since then the iPhone has fallen completely of the list, and the Samsung Omnia has ruled the roost, being number 1 in November, January and now February.
In January another very good Windows Mobile device, the HTC Touch HD joined the list, jumping straight into the number 2 spot, and the smartphone has maintained that position, resisting approaches by the Blackberry Storm, which debuted in position 4 in January but has now fallen one spot to number 5. The iPhone is nowhere to be seen.
Whether luxury leather case sales are a good proxy for overall market share of course remains to be seen, but as mentioned earlier, if you are making luxury cases you can certainly not ignore the Windows Mobile contingent.
The list for February 2008 is as follows:
