Windows Mixed Reality shows some growth in latest SteamVR numbers

Steam’s Hardware Survey numbers are out for November 2018, which give us a rare look into the market share of the various VR headsets, due to Steam’s cross-platform support and their attractive library of VR games and other applications.

The numbers show a small increase in the number of people who use Windows Mixed Reality headsets on SteamVR, growing from 7.7 to 7.77% of the user base.

WMR share is up despite the introduction of the HTC Vive Pro and Huawei VR, which has impacted the Oculus Rift numbers.

Oculus Rift’s headsets shrunk share from 47.28  to 46.9%  of the market, after falling from 48.38% the month before, showing a very interesting trend.

The HTC Vive is seeing a comeback, growing from 44.97% to 45.26% from October to November 2018.

It should be noted that Steam’s numbers are an indirect measure, and if headset users instead use their native portals and games these numbers would fluctuate accordingly.
