According to Digitimes sources, Windows 8 device ODM’s and Brand vendors are concerned about the new Windows 8 verification process for installing on a system. They said that their earlier procedure of installing Windows on PC’s were a easy process and pasting COA label onto a PC will help technicians identify the machines that have already been installed with an operating system. But according to the new process designed by Microsoft ODMs claim that their cost and time consumption will go up.
For the OA 3.0, Microsoft plans to pre-install the Windows 8 operating system into PC’s BIOS and will have consumers key-in the authorization key to activate the software through an Internet connection and will completely abandon its previous method of using a COA label.
They are also blaming Microsoft for playing a two-faced game with ODMs and Brand Vendors..
