New numbers from Net Applications for the month of October revealed that Windows 8.1 is growing at a rapid page at expense of the decade old Windows XP OS in the global market share. Windows 8.1 saw a record growth last month since its launch.
Windows 7 continues to dominate at the top with the OS now over 53.05% market share, up from 52.71% percent in September. Windows 8.1 saw record growth to 10.92%, up from 6.67% last month. Windows 8 saw a slight increase to 5.88%, up from 5.59%. Windows XP’s numbers decreased to 17.18%, down from 23.87% last month.
Mac OS X currently holds a 3.66%, down from 4.05% share, while Windows Vista still holds a market share of 2.82%, down from 3.07%.
