Windows 10 Mobile Redstone will make it easier to access Camera from the lock screen

Microsoft is internally working on the next major update for Windows 10 Mobile, codenamed as Redstone. Recently, we reported that the company is bringing some radical changes to the Action Center to provide a better experience in Windows 10 Mobile. With the Redstone update for Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft seems to be mostly focusing on user experience improvements at the moment. With an upcoming update for Windows 10 Mobile Redstone, Microsoft will add the ability to quickly access the Camera on your phone from the lock screen. Of course, this feature won’t be available to devices with capacitive keys, but phones that have the on-screen keys will be able to see the new Camera button on the lock screen.

In case you are wondering if this replaces the Back button — don’t fret as the camera button on the on-screen keys is also available on the lock screen. That means you will continue to see the “usual” on-screen keys on other parts of the OS like the Start Menu or inside an app. It is worth noting that the Camera button still appears on the lock screen if your device has a dedicated camera button, which is a bit weird but Microsoft will probably address this issue in the near-future.

Moving forward, Microsoft may allow users to customize the on-screen keys, which will be a really nice addition. For now, this isn’t an actual feature on Windows 10 Mobile — but hopefully, Microsoft will add this in the near-future.

As per usual, as this is internal software, Microsoft will most likely tweak and change things. In fact, the company may completely remove this feature if it wants. Nevertheless, tell us what you think of the new quick access Camera button in Windows 10 Mobile Redstone in the comment section below.
