Windows 10 for Phones will support USB keyboard, Mice and Mass Storage

Microsoft has today confirmed that the mobile form of Windows 10, as found in the phones and probably small tablets, will have extensive support for USB accessories, including keyboard, mice, USB hard drives and thumb drives, and also other accessories such as USB Audio in and out, USB Hubs, Generic USB Host and serial devices.

Phones will not be able to install new drivers, meaning only the basic generic drivers will work, but I think this is still a massive expansion over what is available already.

It is not clear if this feature will require new hardware, but given that the chipsets in our devices have long had the capability I suspect not.

Given the new features being revealed today, Windows 10 Mobile is starting to feel like a rather massive upgrade after all.
