WhatsApp Web and Desktop to support Status feature soon

WhatsApp recently introduced a Snapchat-like Status feature to their service, and according to WhatsApp watcher WABetaInfo the company is working on bringing the feature to the Web and desktop app.

Hidden in the app is a new Status button, a UI for your received Status updates and the ability to upload photos, videos and Gifs and also open your webcam to take a picture.

When you open a status, it will be marked as read if the Read Receipt option is enabled and, if you want, you can type a reply.

The new features are at present hidden and not available to regular users.

The current version of WhatsApp Web can be found on WhatsApp’s website here.
