WhatsApp has been actively working on adding new features to the app in order to combat competition. The company recently added “Swipe to Reply” to its Android app and is now working on bringing Touch ID and Face ID support.
The support for Touch ID and Face ID was uncovered by WABetaInfo recently who noted the feature is in alpha stage right now. The feature will allow users to lock/unlock WhatsApp using Face ID (for iPhone X and above) and Touch ID (for older iPhones). In case the Face ID or Touch ID doesn’t work, WhatsApp will ask the user to input the phone password to unlock the app.
Unfortunately, there are no details on when this feature will arrive on iPhones but it’s good to know that WhatsApp is currently testing it. Meanwhile, Android users will have to wait much longer to get this feature.
