WhatsApp is one IM that is available on almost every platform that exists in the world. The company has done a brilliant job of supporting all the major platforms including the dying Windows Phone platform. However, for some reasons, the app was never available for those who owned Android Tablets. This is set to change soon as the company just released their first beta app which is compatible with Android Tablets.
The new update was rolled out to WhatsApp beta users recently which adds support for Android Tablets as well. Unfortunately, the app is restricted to beta users and has limited features right now. There are many missing features which might be added to the app moving forward.
Good news: you can now install WhatsApp on your Android tablet directly from the Play Store (ONLY IF YOU'RE A BETA TESTER — 2.18.367)!
It wasn’t possible in the past and it was necessary to download the APK separately.— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) November 30, 2018
For now, if you want to try WhatsApp on your tablet, then you need to be a beta tester and should have a spare secondary number as you can’t use the same number on two different devices. Moreover, only tablets with SIM support are eligible right now. If you have a tablet that doesn’t support a SIM card then you’re out of luck.
