Windows Phone users can breathe a sigh of relief, as WhatsApp denies that they are in talks to be purchased by Google.
Neeraj Arora, WhatsApp’s business development head, told AllThingsDigital last night that the company is not holding sales talks with Google.
A $1 billion purchase price has been rumoured but it appears like earlier rumours of a Facebook purchase this has not been substantiated.
Arora declined to comment further.
The news is particularly good for Windows Phone users, who have traditionally been under-served by Google, seemingly with malicious or at the very least strategic intent. It is interesting how a much smaller company like WhatsApp can find the resources to serve Windows Phone users while a $ 255 billion company like Google can not.
