WhatsApp beta shows faster load times, other minor updates

An update for WhatsApp currently in beta testing has shown the company has continued to work on their Windows Phone app.

Beta 2.9.6 and 2.9.7, examined by PocketPC.Ch, features faster start up times, now only taking 2.747 seconds.

The app also features new smilies, support for larger wide tiles on Windows Phone 7.8, and unknown bug fixes.

Unfortunately it appears the app has not moved away yet from using the Background Audio service for persistent connections – lets hope one day the company fixes this one annoying issue.
