Western Digital’s award-winning WD BLUE SSD is now three times faster thanks to its new NVMe form-factor.

Announced today, the WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD is a blazing fast storage device that doesn’t sacrifice storage capacity. Optimized for content creators and PC enthusiasts, the WD Blue SN500 aims to deliver “NVMe performance like never before.”

The WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD takes all of the benefits of its SATA counterpart and improves upon it. With read/write speeds of 1,700MB/s and 1,450MB/s respectively, this is one beast of an SSD.

Western Digital claims that the WD Blue SN500 will be perfect for editing 4K and even 8K footage. As the industry starts to move away from 4k and towards higher resolutions, this is an important moment for content creators. Hopefully, Western Digital’s new SSD will make the transition easier.

“The WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD will enable customers to build high-performance laptops and PCs with fast speeds and enough capacity in a reliable, rugged and slim form factor,” said WD’s Vice President of Marketing Eyal Bek.

The WD Blue SN500 will be available in 250GB and 500GB capacities. Hosted on a single-sided M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x2 form factor, it should fit snuggly into most modern laptops.

The suggested retail price for the product is $54.99 (250GB) and $77.99 (500GB). Not too shabby, WD. Not too shabby at all.
