Love him or hate him, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella has certainly made his stamp on the company, something which was in doubt when he ascended to the position of CEO in 2014, a mere 3 years ago.
In that time he changed the face of the company, made a definitive pivot to the cloud, also very decisively dumped the phone business and positioned the company as a champion for social justice, opposing the Trump administration on issues such as data privacy, the travel ban and now DACA.
Now in his new book “Hit Refresh,” being released on the 26th September, readers are able to peer inside his head and see what drove his decision making.
According to Nadella the book not only looks backwards but also towards the future, noting it “explores the renaissance of a storied company and the implications of the coming wave of technology — artificial intelligence, mixed reality and quantum computing — which will soon disrupt the status quo, impacting our lives, communities and economies.”
“My hope is that it’ll start important conversations and spark new ideas, and that others will share their own hit refresh moments,” Nadella said in a post on LinkedIn.

The book is now available for pre-order.
Hit Refresh follows three storylines: Nadella’s personal journey of transformation, the change that is taking place today inside his storied technology company, and one that is coming in all of our lives as intelligent machines become more ambient and more ubiquitous throughout society. Nadella explores how people, organizations, and societies can and must transform—hit refresh—in their persistent quest for new energy, new ideas, relevance and renewal. Nadella writes that uniquely human qualities like empathy will become more valuable in a world where the torrent of technology will disrupt like never before.
