Today ABC served a reminder that despite the positive Windows 10 momentum we still have a long way to go to reverse the slide away from the Windows ecosystem.

In a press release the company announced that they are retiring their Watch ABC and Watch ABC Family streaming TV apps.

They write:

We launched the WATCH ABC and WATCH ABC Family apps on Windows in 2013 and 2014 respectively, to make it easy for viewers to watch their favorite ABC and ABC Family shows on the Windows phone or tablet of their choice. While we appreciate our loyal Windows community, we regret to inform viewers that we will be retiring the WATCH ABC and WATCH ABC Family apps on the Windows platform on January 11, 2016. Both apps will not be available for download in the Windows app store starting today and you will no longer be able to stream content through the apps starting January 11th, 2016.

Fortunately programming will remain available via the browser at ABC.com and freeform.com “from a supported web browser on your desktop or supported mobile devices.
