The lead developer of the VLC video player app for Windows Phone has announced on twitter that the app has reached 3 million cumulative downloads since the release of the app, which was in the beginning of this year.

As can be seen from the graphic above, as the app has improved the downloads have also been pouring in, and the current version already includes wide support for a number of video formats, hardware acceleration and subtitles.
