LE55ONS have posted a video tutorial showing how to replace the captive battery on the Nokia Lumia 1020.
Likely not relevant now, except possibly for soft resetting a device unresponsive to the 3 button press, in another 18 months when your battery starts flagging and your warranty is expired it may be exactly what you need to revive your aging handset.
The process is not very complicated, and should not take more than 5 minutes, but does involve cutting your heatsink tape, which may increase your risk of overheating in the future.
