Verizon only “temporarily sold out” of Lumia devices

There has been a story bubbling under these last few days, of Verizon not carrying any more Microsoft Mobile windows phones, while still offering the Samsung ATIV SE and HTC One for Windows.

We did not think there was much significance to this, and Microsoft has today confirmed this in a statement to Winbeta, in which they say:

"VerizonWireless.com has temporarily sold out of Lumia smartphones. We’re looking forward to bringing more Lumias to market with Verizon.”

I suspect the reason behind the movement is that Microsoft had promised to deliver products which were subsequently cancelled, resulting in a gap in Verizon’s Windows Phone line. Hopefully the removal of Lumia products from Verizon promises upgraded devices on the way soon.
