Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be getting iMessage style messaging on Verizon from today as Google rolls out enhanced messaging to the device.
A Verizon spokesperson told the Verge:
Verizon and Google will be rolling out enhanced messaging (RCS) in the Messages app on Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL beginning this Thursday, December 6th. This messaging service brings, for example, typing indicators, very large group chats and the ability to transfer large files between the owners of these smartphones.
Google has positioned the Messages app as its replacement for Google Allo and is working with carriers worldwide to integrate features typically associated with smart messengers like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger into the platform via the use of RCS technology.
