Valve may be testing out a streaming platform to compete with the likes of Twitch and Mixer. Yesterday afternoon Steam Database creator Pavel Djundik discovered the website steam.tv, which was registered to Valve. Though the website is currently offline, it did for a time stream Dota 2 during The International 2018 temporarily before going offline.
(yes, it's real)

CNET was able to test out a few of its features while it was still up. According to CNET, steam.tv allowed people to access their Steam Chat friends list and group chats if you logged in with your Steam account. Because steam.tv appeared to be a test of some sort and wasn’t online for long, its features were still limited.
Valve has yet to comment on the apparent Twitch competitor.
