USA’s 5th largest bank adds support for Contactless Payments via Microsoft Wallet

PNC bank has just added support for the Microsoft Wallet to their credit card offerings.

This allow PNC customers to make contactless NFC payments at any location where NFC payments are accepted.

To use the service Windows 10 Mobile owners of the Lumia 650 or Lumia 950 and 950 XL merely need to add their card details to the Microsoft Wallet app on the phones, which can be done by scanning the cards with your camera from the app.

PNC is the fifth largest bank in USA by number of branch offices, sixth largest by deposits, ninth largest by total assets, and third largest by number of off-premises ATMs. PNC is based in Pittsburgh but has more than 2,600 branches and 9000 ATMs.

PNC bank joins Bank of America as one of the few banks that support NFC payments for Windows Phones, but I suspect given the low usage of the technology in general in USA it is enough to say this is no longer an area where Windows Phones are left behind.

PNC customers can read more about activating the service at PNC’s webpage here.
