Cortana has arrived in UK, and while it is welcome to finally have the weather in logical Celsius rather than unfathomable Fahrenheit, it seems the voice assistant has also dropped a feature or two.
The most significant seems to that Cortana no longer offers up local attractions sourced from Foursquare, which is somewhat odd given that when set to USA is delivered some pretty good local data.
Of major importance for UK users is that the news sources are now local publications, but unfortunately Microsoft appears to have chosen the local version of Fox news in UK, the Daily Mail, which should keep us in sensational headlines for a while.
Cortana can now also no longer tell a joke, tell you verbally who the CEO or Microsoft or other chit chat.
Fortunately the Project Manager for Cortana, Marcus Ash, says the service roll-out to UK has not been completed yet, which suggests we may see the situation change in the near future.
How do our readers feel about the local Cortana, which appears to sound somewhat less enthusiastic compared to the US version also? Let us know below.
Update: Chit chat seems to be enabled now.
Update 2: Foursquare now also working.
