T-Mobile, MetroPCS and AT&T confirm the Nokia Lumia 630 coming soon

In press releases on their website both AT&T and T-Mobile/MetroPCS confirmed they will be carrying the Nokia Lumia 635 LTE, which seems destined to be a replacement for the Nokia Lumia 520.

AT&T writes:

“AT&T was the first in the U.S. to deliver Nokia’s innovative line-up of Windows Phones, the first in the world to offer an LTE Windows Phone and currently offers the largest selection of Windows devices,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T.

This innovative and affordable LTE capable smartphone features the new Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana personal assistant and a speedy quad-core processor. We strive to offer our consumers the widest choice of devices to fit any mobile lifestyle – all running on our voice and data network that covers more than 99 percent of all Americans.”

In a much lengthier statement T-Mobile/MetroPCS said:

BELLEVUE, Wash. – April 2, 2014 – Immediately on the heels of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.1 unveiling today, T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE: TMUS) has announced the company will offer up its Redmond neighbor’s latest mobile OS as part of its ongoing commitment to deliver greater freedom and choice for American wireless consumers – starting with Nokia’s new Lumia 635 coming this summer.

 

The Lumia 635 will be the first device sold in the United States powered out of the box by the very latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, introduced earlier today at Microsoft’s 2014 Build developers conference in San Francisco.

The company said the Nokia Lumia 635 will deliver:

In addition, T-Mobile US announced that, starting this summer, the Windows Phone 8.1 update will also be available for T-Mobile’s Nokia Lumia 521 and Nokia Lumia 925 owners, as well as for MetroPCS customers who own the Nokia Lumia 521.

Neither companies revealed the exact arrival date of the handsets or pricing, but given the low-cost nature of the handsets they will almost certainly be free on contract.
