In a recent survey of 2,000 consumers, Robert W. Baird analyst William Power found 77% of current iPhone users were planning to buy another iPhone, while only 48 percent of Android users would buy a new Android phone.
17% of Android users were looking at buying an iPhone, leaving 35% of Android users up for grabs.
Only 2% of current Blackberry owners were planning to buy a new Blackberry on their next purchase.
They survey found 39% of potential smartphone buyers were eligible for an upgrade at present, with a further 6% becoming eligible in the next 3 months, making the upcoming holiday season the prime time to grab customers.
AT&T is expected to release Windows Phone 8 handsets from HTC, Samsung and Nokia in Q4, while Verizon is also rumoured to be aggressively pushing a similar number of Windows Phones this holiday season. Additionally carriers are rumoured be actively pushing buyers away from iPhones, which may once again boost the Windows Phone platform in USA.
