Sprite created Dashwire competitor

Sprite, the leadings windows mobile backup software company, has decided to move their business into the cloud. They have created a service which combines the functions of 3 of their apps; Sprite backup, Sprite Terminator and Sprite Archie, into one online offering called Virtual Mobile.

Virtual Mobile consists of an app residing on your phone and a website which are in constant communication, over the connection of your choice, syncing SMS, Contacts, Calender, Photos etc, and allowing you to remotely track and wipe your device. The service will also allow one to effortlessly move your data from one device to another.

Further features include being able to see your photos taken on your device on the web, and sending sms messages directly from the website instead of the phone.

Many of these functions will appear familiar to Windows Mobile from Dashwire’s offering, and unlike Dashwire, Sprite intends to charge a small monthly fee for their service.

On the other hand Sprite has a reputation for reliability and functionality in the Windows Mobile world, which may serve them well in the upcoming competition. The service is currently in alpha/beta, and is invitation only, but should go into public availability soon.
