Sprint only looking at “potential opportunities” for Windows Phone 8, no plans yet

SprintPlayBook

Verizon has been pretty open with their support for Windows Phone 8, clearly stating that they are planning to release multiple handsets this year.

Sprint on the other hand has not expressed any real confidence in the OS, complaining the HTC Arrive was “one of the more returned products in the company’s recent history” and saying clearly they will not “lead the charge”.

Now WinSource has managed to get a copy of Sprint’s internal playbook, which they use to coach customer reps, and it carries a similar message, saying:

Windows 8

Right now there’s buzz about this platform, which includes PCs, tablets and a Windows 8 phone.

Currently, we’re evaluating this new OS and working with Microsoft on potential opportunities. However, we have no announcements regarding Windows 8 devices at this time.

As we said earlier, while Sprint is still planning to have a meeting to decide whether they should be considering if they should look at Windows Phone 8, I would not hold my breath for a handset anytime soon.
