Defying Apple, Spotify reports strong growth in both users and paid subscribers


Spotify today reported its Q3 2020 results with strong MAU and subscriber growth. Spotify now has 320 million monthly active users, a 29% growth from last year. Spotify now has 144 million premium subscribers which is up 27% YoY. Spotify saw strong upward trends in new user retention in emerging market.

“The MAU outperformance was bouyed by India, which benefited from successful marketing campaigns, as well as stronger than
expected results from our July launches in Russia, CIS, and the Balkans,” Spotify mentioned in its press release.

Spotify also mentioned that global consumption hours surpassed pre-COVID levels this quarter, and all regions have fully recovered from COVID levels.
