Spider-Man 2 on PS5 could be releasing a lot sooner than we thought if rumors are to be believed.

Games journalist Imran Kahn revealed through an appearance on the latest episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast that the next Spidey adventure isn’t too far away. In fact, Kahn revealed that the title could be swinging onto Sony’s upcoming console as early as Christmas 2021.

“I know too much about [Marvel’s Spider-Man 2],” Kahn revealed on the gaming podcast. “I can’t speculate too much. I think a Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think.” During the podcast, Kahn also mentions the Holiday 2021 release window.

With a three-year development cycle on this alleged sequel, Insomniac Games has their work cut out for them. With most of the underlying technology already created in last year’s title, it is indeed possible that the web-slinging adventure could be out in time for 2021’s Christmas period, but is it likely?

Sony has certainly been pushing Insomniac’s Spider-Man as of late. With the already realeased title being a key focus of the console manufacturer’s PlayStation 5 tests, it’s clear that Sony views the property as important to fans. With the company purchasing Insomniac Games right after the wall-crawler’s video game released, Sony need Spider-Man.
