Softbank taking an Interest in WM and it’s accessories

I’m sure none of you would expect this but Windows Mobile has  a much bigger presence in Japan then one would expect. Softbank being the #2 wireless carrier in Japan in particular has recently taken an increased interest in Windows Mobile. The HTC TyTn I was one of the first devices brought over to Japan during it’s 3G stage. As of now, they offer the “X04HT” and “X05HT” which is the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro respectively. Of course, the Touch Diamonnd is offered all over the world so there must be something interesting and different that is being done for Softbank

An interesting take Softbank has taken to differentiate their Diamond from the rest is that they are offering peripherals to enhance their offering. Bluetooth devices and charging stands are some of the peripherals being offered but by also offering it with unique and stylish designs helps it stand out. In a Market where 1-seg tuner and WVGA Flip phones dominate the scene, in a market where accessories and peripherals are much more important then most other countries, the fact that  they are turning to smartphones as stylish and functional as these HTC Devices are a step in the right direction.
