[Site Poll] Should we get rid of Developer Submissions? Have your say

Just like the last time we asked this, we are heading towards yet another site revamp and redesign, and we thought this would be the best time to raise this topic again.

Developer submissions on MSPoweruser have been running for a while, and they essentially allow developers the ability to freely advertise their apps with minimal editing and some curation.

On the negative side, they essentially allow developers the ability to freely advertise their apps with minimal editing and some curation, with many essentially regurgitating their store listings, as well as the lack of impartiality that comes from such.

Some of our readers have raised concerns about the content, form, and value of some of these submissions, and indeed internally they have been a source of lively conversation.

With the site moving towards a new design, as well as adapting our focus to modern Microsoft, it’s time to ask once more if developer submissions are still necessary.

This is not to say that developers can’t get their apps showcased on here, any interested developer is welcome to email myself, Mehedi or Surur and share their apps – a write-up would be forthcoming if it’s deemed interesting, barring that, we have a forum that users and devs alike can post to.

Ultimately, though, we serve our readers so we are posing the question to you. Do you think the developer submssions as they now serve little value or not? This is not an advisory referendum, we will implement the changes. Vore in the poll and let us know in the comments below.
