Shopsavvy updated to Mango, claims better performance than Bing Vision

ShopSavvy have updated their barcode scanning app to Windows Phone 7.5, and now supports Live Scanning directly from the video stream.  The scanning module can be pinned directly to the home screen, making it as convenient as using the built-in service in Bing Vision.

Talking about Bing Vision, in the video above they claim their solution performs better than the built-in Microsoft solution, hitting full marks for price, photo and reviews much more often than Microsoft.

Their app now also supports products being pinned. This feature allows:

  • a review summary to give a good feel for how the overall reviews pan out
  • a visual indicator inside each item to show how close to the cheapest price the current prices is
  • the ability to get directions to the store using Bing Maps
  • share the deal using the built-in social networks on your Windows Phone (including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn)

Lastly the app now includes the ShopSavvy Hub, which includes nearby scans and hundreds of deals exclusively from retailers near you.

Shopsavvy remains free and can be download here.
